When did I become a meanie?

I needed to return some items to a store, so I was standing around the front counter waiting for somebody, anybody, to come help. There’s a guy in front of me, and two people behind me. We’re just standing around. They had one of those TVs on display showing some movie. The guy in front was watching it while waiting, so I started watching it too. Several minutes later this manager-looking guy is walking past and I manage to catch his eye. He asks me, “Oh, do you need to be helped?” I gave him an emphatic YES. I hate waiting.

He goes around behind the counter and says, “Sorry about that, I thought you were watching the TV with that guy.” First of all, if I was with “that guy” I would be standing next to him watching TV, not behind him. Then I thought, “Yeah, like I don’t have a TV at home I could be watching instead.” By the vaguely sour look on his face I could tell my mouth had gone and voiced what my brain was thinking. Dammit, my social filter malfunctioned again. Stupid mouth, you weren’t supposed to say it! *Sigh* When did I become so mean?

Well, if you’d like to visit someone who’s not as mean as me, check out my new renter! She’s a blog I recently discovered and added to my blogroll. Funny, insightful, and with cutey-pie pets! The conservative types think her template is a bit “adult”. I think it’s PG-13 at worst. What do you think?
