So much for that new roof
I got my paycheck yesterday with the bonus in it. I was very excited! My first major bonus at my first major job. Then I saw the amount. Could that be correct? My coworkers had warned me that they tend to tax the hell out of bonuses, but I didn’t expect them to take HALF of it! Crap! Half?? I looked again and redid the math. Yup, after taxes I only received half of the stated bonus.
*big dejected sigh*
Then I remembered that we had to pay the other half of the “Additional Property Taxes” thing. What a load of crap that was too. Apparently the first year you buy a house, the change of ownership induces an “Additional Property Tax”. This is, of course, in addition to the property taxes they are already robbing you of. It numbered in the multiple thousands. We barely made it the first time (and only because my mom helped, how embarrassing). This time I have my bonus to cover it, thank goodness. But then that doesn’t leave me with much left over.
*even bigger dejected sigh*
So much for that new roof. At least we have a roof. And it doesn’t rain all that much. Maybe after all these bloodsucking expenses are out of the way I can still afford a little getaway weekend. That’ll be nice. Think positive. Think positive. I miss my carefree renting days. NO! Think positive! Um, at least I’m still employed! That’s better.
