Seeing yourself in movies

Certain movies we like a lot simply because we see a lot of ourselves in the main character. Some good examples…

The Truth About Cats and Dogs - I identified a lot of Janine Garaffalo’s character. Much like her, I saw myself as a smart, witty person who didn’t come in a “pretty package”, and was therefore not confident that anyone could be interested.

While You Were Sleeping - I love Sandra Bullock in this. She comes off as a very sweet, slightly quirky, genuine person. I can see myself as that.

Finding Nemo - I had friends who saw the movie and immediately though of me. A funny fish with memory problems… do you see any resemblance? If Dory hadn’t have been in that movie, I wouldn’t have loved it even half as much.

Bridget Jone’s Diary - I have an affinity for quirky characters who, sweet as they might be, can’t help being dorky. That’s me through and through.

Speaking of Bridget Jones’ Diary, have you heard of this blog with a similar name? Why yes, she’s my renter this week! Gidget Bones Diary. Blog Explosion seems to have temporarily absconded with her thumbnail. If you don’t see it in the sidebar, well the best way to see it would be to go visit for yourself. She’s undergoing some major overhauling, so be careful to step around the caution tape, and for heavens sake don’t write your name in the wet cement.
