I've had better Mondays
Show of hands, how many of you are dragging this morning? Just when it was finally starting to be light outside when I wake up, they had to go and screw with the time. Now it’s dark again, dammit. This sucks. I’m at work, but half asleep. This post is probably lacking a certain bit of luster due to a portion of my brain that is still functioning on one hour ago.
During the drive to the office they were saying on the radio that one way to reset your body clock was to go out in the morning and expose yourself (heehee, I had pause here and giggle) to sunlight for an hour or two. I was curious, does this work? I’d heard of it before but never bothered researching it.
So I decided to look up some facts. An article mentioned that exercise releases seratonin, which helps reset the body clock. At least that’s what I think it said. The actual text reads, “A brisk walk will release serotonin and other types of neurotransmitters that will phase-advance the clock.” What the article recommended was to exercise Saturday afternoon, then get some sun Sunday morning. Great. This would have been nice to know before my weekend started. I don’t think I even saw the sun on Sunday. And exercise on the weekends? Ha! Maybe a walk during my lunch break will help. My brain could use a little phase shifting… whatever that means.
