I hate movie snobs

Remember when I was complaining about Printer Freak at my office? Well add “movie snob” to his list of annoying traits.

Yesterday a coworker who sits next to him commented, “I watched Aeon Flux over the weekend.” Printer Freak’s immediate reaction was, “Oh god, how was that?” Never having seen the movie, he was already thumbing his nose at it as if it were a Scary Movie or Scooby Doo movie (both of which I enjoyed by the way, but they’re definitely silly).

First of all, it stars Charlize Theron, who kicks ass in every role she plays. In Aeon Flux she plays a woman who kicks everyone’s ass. What’s not to love?? Printer Freak was obviously intimidated and would much prefer a caveman to be kicking everyone’s ass. He’s one of those independent film fanatics, they are the worst movie snobs of all. Yes, okay, I know you’re a smart technical writer who aced all your classes in school, I get it. (He waves that flag at every opportunity too.) There’s this thing I like to call “humility” that you should read about. It means there are opportune moments when you should shut yer yap. In other words, leave my big-budget Hollywood entertainment alone!
