Help me make a good first impression
Wow, people were actually interested in renting from me! This means I actually got it working correctly! Amazing. I’m such a novice, does it show? I’m embarrassing geek-kind.
So anyway, ehhh.... oh yeah! You gotta click on that little box over there! You just gotta! What do you mean, “What box?” Don’t play dumb with me. I know you see it. Oh come on, I have to make a good impression on my first renter. I just know she’s sitting over there across the pond tapping her foot and wondering where her numbers are.
Oh fine I’ll tell you a story. When I was a kid one of the things I wanted to be was a journalist… some kind of a writer. I took journalism class, was on the high school paper, applied for a major in Journalism (got rejected because they were full), and wrote a couple pieces for the college paper. Sometimes I haul out the little scrapbook of articles that I wrote and read through it… and I think, “Damn, I was awful!” Did I think I was a good writer back then?
But I’m glad I got rejected for the Journalism major. I don’t want to be in that business anymore. I enjoy writing immensely, but not under deadline. It squeezes all the joy out of it. But I admire people who do pursue journalism. Such as my current renter! See? You thought I wasn’t going to go anywhere with this story. Ha! Okay, I gave you something, now you have to go click!
