But in the end, did they use the weighted GPAs to grant the valadictorian title?
Yup. Valedictorian had a 4.9. I was #2 until I took a non-honors course.
Well that’s good. Then you feel vindicated for having put forth that extra effort. My school robbed us honor students.
Yeah. I think it’s a clusterfuck no matter how they do it. You definitely got robbed, though.
Ugh, they totally screwed you guys over that. Our high school used the weighted GPA for determining valedictorian. My counselor practically shoved me out the door and into extracurricular activities to boost my application. I hated every single moment of it. But, I did get accepted to all schools that I applied and got a full scholarship plus some other scholarships that I just got the money which I promptly pissed away on a new wardrobe and outfitting my dorm room. Heh.
I never had a chance, I was a C student but I think it had a lot to do with my ADD.
I’m not the smartest kid in my school but nor do I try very hard. I get decent marks and breeze through a lot of my classes. I couldn’t take University level classes because I was away a lot due to health problems and catching up in college level is easier then catching up in University level.
My high school had the International Baccalaureate program, which weighted the GPA a full point higher than 4.0. That meant that all of us who were in the top 10 of our class were well above 4.0. I was #5 and I had a 4.8. I got screwed because I took a few non-honors courses, which made my GPA take a downward turn even though I got an A.
