Do not buy tires from a dealership...you’ll end up paying about double what you should have....just saying.
A lot of dealership/mechanics get paid some type of bonus for as much shit as they can charge you for. My son manages one of those quick oil change places and they actually have a dollar goal per car to meet above and beyond the charge of the oil change.
I’m sorry to hear about the car! I hope they don’t rake you over the coals like a mechanic I know.
I definitely don’t plan on getting that crap fixed at the dealership. I only took it there because my oil changes are still free there. But now that my warranty has expired, it’s regular mechanic time. I know dealers charge way more for the same stuff, so I won’t be fixing anything there again. Except maybe light bulbs. Thanks for the Pep Boys recommendation Watchdog!
Like everyone else said, be careful. Those places are always looking to rip somebody off.
i hate mechanics. they’re such rapists...lol
thanks for picking me!
Yep, dealerships are the absolute worst once your warranties are done.
Do you know anyone that can give you a recommendation of a good mechanic? I was lucky enough to have someone do that for me. The best part about that sitch, is knowing that they’re not trying to screw ya just because you’re a girl, and you don’t know much about cars (at least in my case!)
i know it sucks...but remember. no more car payments. any car will always need work or repairs. maintain it and it will be cheaper in the long run.
T, I agree, I gotta be careful who I choose. It’s too easy to rip off folks who know nothing about cars.
Dawn, it’s good to have you! How could I refuse a fellow webmaster?
Stephanie, Ii actually did get a recommendation for a good mechanic. I’ll need to give them a call… after my next paycheck of course.
Weese, thanks for that reminder. I do need it from time to time to keep me from running off and trading the thing in for a new one.
dear gawd! I’d get a second opinion cuz that’s just ridiculous.
That sucks! Hope you find a mechanic that will do a good job, and not rip you off.
Two words my friend ...
SECOND OPINION
Man, I hate mechanics.
Yep, always get a second and third opinion. I had a friend who was a mechanic and I used to take everything to him and have him look at it and then for fun I would go to 3 other places. His price would be $100 their prices in the thousands. They would say I had things wrong with my car that were perfectly fine. They see a girl and think $$$.
I hate to say it… but be careful who you choose… those guys always take advantage first chance you get. Believe it or not, I found going to a national mechanic like Pep Boys is best.
And thanks for letting me stay here this last week… hope I didn’t make too much of a mess!
