Poor poor you.  I can’t imagine living with Mosquitos like that.

I hope you are well, sorry to have been absent for so long ...

Yanno....I’m sure it’s had to have happened, at some point...but I honsetly can’t remember any mosquitos pestering me while I’m sleeping at home. Camping sure, but not at home. You don’t live in a tent do ya?

*snickers*

mike | 07.18.2006 | 8:19 AM

Oh yes!  I hate those little bugs.

Your honey’s lucky you just leave ... me? I have to flip on the lights and KILL them before I can get any sleep.  hehe… drives my husband nuts.

Honestly though, they’re so annoying.

Thanks for your help today hon.

Ooops.  Forgot to change my address.

J. | 07.18.2006 | 12:22 PM

For some reason, neither mosquitos or fleas bite me.  (Or if they do, they don’t leave marks.) But, I never see them on me.  Ever.

SPIDERS, on the other hand, bite me, and the bite area will swell up to the size of a softball, and will leave a giant bruise.

It’s bizarre.

(how appropriate is it that my word is “medicated”?)

adena | 07.18.2006 | 12:44 PM

I am the one who is always bitten.  I can be with my entire family in a park and I’ll end up covered in bites when no one else will!

I just assume sweetness oozes from my pores making me irristable...maybe that is it for you too!

Sorry you slept so poorly!  Mosquito season will end eventually!

Oh hey! I forgot! I was going to tell you to try using Bounce Fabric Softner sheets as a repellant.  My grandma said for me to try it but I haven’t yet.  She said you rub on exposed areas and it’s supposed to repell them.  Also, another repellant is catnip oil.  To make it you take a couple handfuls of stems and leaves, cover them in canola oil, slowly heat it for about 15 minutes and let it set overnight.  Then you just strain it and put it in a container to use.

You can use citronella candles (it sounds like there’s good ventilation) at night. There’s also plants that repel mossies when the leaves are crushed (can’t remember what they are called, look like tansies and they even work outside). The good thing with either is that you don’t have to slather oil or gunk on you, nor do you have to use chemical sprays.

cheers from oz

I was thinking about applying some kind of repellant to myself like citronella, but candles might work well too!  Thanks for the suggestion Oz.

Di, and can’t help but picture myself being accosted by cats instead of mosquitos after using that remedy. LOL

Adena, you lucky brat. I’ve only had one spider bite. It was on my ankle. Make me limp for a week!

J, I’d kill them too… if I could find them! They scatter like roaches every time the light comes on, so I gave up.

Mike, oh, hmm, perhaps I shouldn’t be camping out in my back yard. I’ll try sleeping indoors like you suggested. You’re so brilliant!

Amber, welcome back!

My home has been blissfully mosquito free due to my frequent reiteration “Do we live in a barn?  NO!  Close the door” to the boysies.  Maybe, you need to close the door? :D

stephanie | 07.18.2006 | 7:20 PM

You need a bug zapper! Although that’s probably not gonna help you sleep with the infernal buzzing and the blue glowing light.  The bugs love me too and citronella never seems to work.  Load up on the bugspray and pray a lot. Maybe it will help.

T. | 07.18.2006 | 7:48 PM

Stephanie, it actually is a valid point. We often have the door open for maximum breezeage because it’s hot has hell.

Well T, I had bug spray on hand, so I loaded up the room full of spray this morning and I’m hoping it did the trick.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 07.18.2006 | 10:31 PM

I hate that freaking buzzing!

I rarely get bitten tho...I have anit-mosquito blood or something.

I suggest drinking lots of tequila.  No, that’s not why I don’t get bitten, but it sounds like a fine idea to me...plus you won’t care.

My captcha is ‘dinner’ I love how these things fit the post.

I love my psychic blog. And I agree, a few shots would definitely put me out of my mosquito buzzing misery!

Try “Skeeter Defense Patches” from Lanco Research LLD.  You can find them sometimes at Wal-Mart or Walgreens.  They’re all natural and don’t smell bad or contain DEET.  Maybe just try sticking one to your nightstand and see if that helps.  It has to be better than losing a night of ZZZs next to your sweetie.
