Free air is getting very hard to find, even in the sticks it costs 50 cents and it ain’t even 5 minutes worth of air. Just aired up my tires yesterday with free air and was thinking the same thing you were. Where did all the free air go?

Rural Lesbian | 07.20.2007 | 6:39 AM

Well if it’s 50 cents in the sticks too, then that might be what I’ll have to pay.  I’ll try one other place. I just might have to cough up two quarters after all. I used to have an old air compressor that my dad gave me… I wonder where that thing went?

Geeky Dragon Girl | 07.20.2007 | 8:13 AM

I’m not sure, I’m not usually the one who fills my tires.

Robin | 07.20.2007 | 1:30 PM

Free air down here smile And you can even set the psi you want the pump to stop at.

Oh, a tiny compressor that runs off your car battery is a good thing to have if you’re charged for air.

That, and a good floor pump (builds muscles).

Oh, my! Orgasm is my word veri this morning… what a great way to wake up smile

Don’t you live in California?  Im pretty sure it’s a California thing that all you have to is get gas or buy something in the store and ask them to turn on the air (they have a switch inside) and you get it for free (its like law or something if i remember correctly from my sucky job i had back in the day at Texaco)

I know of one gas station near me that has free air. There may be more around here, I don’t know.

Free air?!  Free water?!  In this day...Are you living on crazy?

Erm, no I’ve never heard of free air or water around here, but I do remember back when it was free.  The times they are a changin’.

Mia | 07.22.2007 | 7:54 AM

We have only one station around that I know of that still does free air.  There was a gas station near my old house that charged 75 cents!  Because I’m sure it’s costing them so much money to run the compressor for five minutes or so.  Rude!

Asara | 07.23.2007 | 2:59 AM

Robin, lucky you!

Dave, that sounds pretty awesome! I should stop by there and fill up my tires real quick. LOL

HeatherB, really? Oh that would be cool! Because now they’re 75 cents everywhere! Waaaaahhhh. I should’ve filled up at 50 cents. Missed it by a weekend. But I’ll definitely look into what you said. Too bad I filled the tank just this morning. But I’m going to look up that law and see if it applies to me in LA. Thanks for the info!

Divalicious, that’s pretty rare!

Mia, yeah I know, it’s wishful thinking.

Asara, here too! I couldn’t believe it when I pulled up to check, and it was 75 cents now! No more 50-cent pumps. What the hell.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 07.23.2007 | 5:22 AM

hmm, don’t know where my comment went.
but we have free air most places here.

weese | 07.23.2007 | 6:44 AM

Well at least they’re not charging me for the air I breathe yet!

Geeky Dragon Girl | 07.23.2007 | 7:25 AM

I live in Oregon where THEY pump the gas for you and if you need air, they will check it for you too, at most places. I remember the olden days when they would ALWAYS clean your windshield and ask to check your oil!

annie | 07.24.2007 | 7:41 PM

Okay I’m a lil on the slow side but here in Oklahoma all the 7-11’s have free air to fill you tires.  Though I can see why they charge you.  It isn’t the air they are charging you for.  It is the power to run the compressor.  They do have to still pay that bill in the end.  Given a lil break people.  Though I do agree that $.75 is a lot to pay for air.

Audi | 07.25.2007 | 2:10 AM

Annie, Wow they still do that? There are some Chevrons around here with Full service lanes available, but I think that costs extra. I guess in LA if you want anything extra, you have to pay for it.

Audi, I understand the need to maintain and run the compressors, that’s why 25 cents is reasonable. 75 is not.
