I see why we get along :D
1. Gone With the Wind - Saw when I was young, bored out of my mind.
2. Scarface - Never seen, I am bored by violent movies.
3. There’s Something About Mary - I did not think this was funny and regretted even watching.
4. Any of the James Bond movies - They don’t do anything for me.
5. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Never saw.
You don’t like Gone With The Wind?!? You don’t adore Brett and Scarlett??
I’m just… I just don’t understand!!
Gone with the wind - overrated. It’s like Clueless set in the past...only, at least Clueless was actually funny.
Scarface - Can’t remember a thing. Nothing stuck.
Something about mary - Not funny. Anchorman, now that’s funny.
007 - I like Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan.
Crouching Tiger - I. Hated. It. Stunts on strings piss me off.
What what what? How could you not like Scarlett? *I* am Scarlett. Overreacting, spoiled senseless, etc. I’m...I’m deeply hurt. I must away.
I’ve never seen Gone with the Wind or Scarface, but I enjoy the other movies. The Bond films are just fun in their cheesiness, although the most recent one was good cinema, too.
I have nothing to say in support of any of those movies, other than I MIGHT have slightly giggled once or twice during Something About Mary but overall it wasn’t worth the movie ticket IMO…
Heather, there were a couple of places where I might have tittered a bit. I didn’t hate the movie, but I don’t understand why the vast majority of the population seem to think it’s such a good example of humor.
Robin, I’m glad we agree!
Miss Britt, I have to like at least one main character before I can even start to like a movie. I hated both of them and found it utterly impossible to care what happened to them. I liked the supporting characters though. Too bad it wasn’t about them.
Wench, martial arts usually impresses, me, but I agree, those stunts on strings were just annoying.
KG, you must play the role when they make Gone With the Wind 2. Only then would I bother watching it.
Avitable, the most recent one, Casino Royale… I dunno, the guy just had no personality. I liked Pierce better.
Di, I’m glad I didn’t pay for a movie ticket! It’s okay as a rental… ONCE.
Gone with the Wind: never seen it.
Scarface: I love violent movies, especially if Al Pacino is in them.
There’s Something About Mary: I think I saw it. If so, I don’t remember.
James Bond: Well, in the which action hero quiz are you I took recently, I was Captain Jack Sparrow first, and James Bond second! At least I was Lara Croft third.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon: Meh. I LOVE Chow Yun-Fat but he was so much better before he sold out to Hollywood. But money talks, eh?
I agree about Gone with the Wind. I’ve seen like 30 minutes of What about Mary and turned it off- I don’t get why everyone thinks it’s so funny
Gone With the Wind: I totally agree! There goes 4 hours of my life that I’ll never get back. I even tried to read the book, on the grounds that one should never judge a book by its movie, and gave up half way through. Just as horrible.
Scarface: Never seen it, never wanted to.
There’s Something About Mary: Never seen it, because I know that I hate movies of that ilk - saw “Dumb and Dumber” and could FEEL my IQ falling as I was watching it. It’s not funny, it’s embarrassing and toe-curling and stupid and you’d have to pay me a lot of money to watch that kind of thing!
James Bond: I’m with you. The newer ones are ok, but we’re definitely talking B, C or even D-movies. No real plot, just a lot of action. I was pleasantly surprised by “Casino Royale” though, but mostly because the two main bad guys were played by Danes. Gotta support my country!
Crouching Tiger...: Never seen it. Everybody kept raving about it, but the plot just didn’t appeal to me.
Titanic: It’s ok. Better than any of the others on this list anyway, but the mere fact that it stars Leonardo DeCaprio makes it less worth seeing in my eyes. I will never understand all the hype about him. He’s not even good looking! Give me Ben Affleck or William Shockley ANY day.
I’ll add “The Bodyguard” to this list. Another movie with a LOT of hype where I just went “meh” after seeing it. I can’t even remember it any longer, so that’s how big an impression it made on me
I was with you on all of them EXCEPT Scarface! I think you should give that one another try!
Nope, don’t think so. Repetition will only make me dislike it more. I don’t care for movies about drug dealers.
I love There’s Something About Mary. I’ve seen it a million times. You didn’t even laugh when he was getting carried out into the ambulance and Warren was yelling “He was masturbating!” Or when Patrick first got to Florida and before getting into the car asked about the dog “Does he bite” and his friend answered “Little bit. Get in.” Hahaha. Love it. But I have a very sick sense of humor so maybe that’s why.
