I’ve only been to strip club on 3 different occasions and they were all totally different.
1) Taken to a strip club for lunch (lunch buffet which was surprisingly good). It was more of an odd feeling, trying to eat with the “show” going on.
2) With the guys many moons ago (just old enough to get in). Spent more time hanging out and yapping with each other than watching the “show”. ("Men" in groups btw)
3) Took my wife. This was only because she was curious as to what one was like. Went there just to satisfy her curiousity. Very odd considering I’m sitting there thinking, “What do you say?” “That’s a nice pair of shoes that girl has on?”
Needless to say none of my 3 visits was what you would call ordinary.
Also, I found it quite interesting that “up home” (Ontario, CA) that keeping dollar bills to distribute was not necessary unless you sat on the edge of the stage (front row). This was a bit of a shock when I took my wife near where I live now (Ohio, USA) and it turns out it doesn’t matter where you sit, they come find YOU for money after they are done.
Unbalanced, good point! I had forgotten to mention that.
Pusher, that is an interesting difference. They go find you for money after the show? I guess it depends on the club.
This weekend I was introduced to a beautiful love song, “I’m In Luv Wit A Stripper”. It is the sweet, engaging story of a boy (self-proclaimed freak) who is in luv wit a girl (stripper). The lyrics? i n s p i r a t i o n a l, I tell ya.
I also got a bridge for sale.
I’d much rather watch women strippers than men. My husband and I went to a strip club a couple years ago (ironically, it was part of my birthday night out). It was my first time at a strip club (female topless strippers). He bought me two lap dances. I had a great time. It was very erotic. I’d go again someday.
I haven’t been to a guy strip show that was anything more than oily guys. I had more fun watching the women in the audience than the guys. They were hysterically funny.
I’d much rather watch women strippers too. Somehow guy strippers are just really really gross. I’m amazed by the female’s abililty and contortion antics. I’ve seen both male and female strippers and I just have to say that the women rule the pole.
Just like we tend to rule everything else.
Amen Vixen! Women rule!
Maggie, you’re absolutely right, it’s more entertaining to watch some of the women than the actual male strippers.
Heather, I don’t know that I’d feel comfortable getting a lap dance from either gender. I mean, a stranger is a stranger, and I’ve got some personal space that only one person is allowed into!
Deborah, yeah that song is deep.
Everyone must have strippers on the brain recently, because I remember the conversation here in the comment box about stripper poles a week or so ago..oh hell I don’t remember exactly when, but I remember it taking place.
You’re absolutely right. I had posted not to long ago about something I heard on the radio about someone who had a stripper pole in their living room, and her friends did too!
I think it’s a little bit more degrading for women than men to be a stripper. And men think that if they are strippers then its all hot. But when a womans is a stripper she gets no respect from anyone...how sad.
What will tomorrow’s lesson strippers be? LOL
*Gasp* Since we’re all on a stripper theme...is someone going to teach us how to master the art of using a stripper pole and how not to dry hump like a dirty sweaty dude? Hahaha.
Did the strippers at the club you went to wear rubber bands at the base of their penis to keep them erect???
The club my friends took me to for my bachelorette party the guys had rubber bands on their dicks! ugh! It was nasty!
Bitchet, we didn’t actually go to a club, they came to the house where the party was hosted. And I didn’t notice any rubber bands. They didn’t seem all that concerned with keeping it “up”. They probably just stuff socks in there.
Donna, lesson #2 on how not to dry-hump like a sweaty guy—just don’t do it at all!
Mar, I guess strippers don’t get much respect regardless of gender.
T, two lessons is probably enough, hehe.
btw: the place I always thought would be cool to check out someday is Mints & Peppermints in Niagara Falls, Ontario.
There are ALWAYS limos outside ...
The cool thing about it is Mints (downstairs I believe) is female strippers. Peppermints (upstairs) is male strippers.
I always wondered if couples showed up and then separated, one upstairs one down?
That sounds kinda neat. Maybe couples could go to both. I think there needs to be more shows that include both genders.
I’ve never been to a male stripper. Funny. I’ve been to many female strip clubs because my friends think it’s hilarious to go and “shake things up” and “make the male patrons crazy.” I admit, it is funny. WE girls know how to have a good time. It wasn’t so funny, however, when I got too drunk and stripped along with the REAL strippers. Yes, I think that was quite insane. But I admit, I wouldn’t mind doing it again. It was kind of exciting!
YAK. Can we not talk about yucky, sweaty strippers? Bleeeh.
How appropriate is it that my captcha is cooties? lol
I’ve been to both male and female strip clubs. There are big differences and to be honest, if I never saw another man gyrate and take his clothes off again, that’d be fine with me.
The biggest difference I noticed was that in a female strip club, you are NOT allowed to touch the dancers (unless you pay the big bucks and go to a private room), but in a male strip club, not only are you allowed, you are EXPECTED to touch them.
Ewwwwwww.
I bartended and waitressed in various stripbars for well over ten years. The men are pretty much their normal piggish selves. The women? Oh. My. Gawd. The totally lose their fucking marbles.
as I enjoy your blog so much, today I decided to contribute - as the subject is so intriguing..anyway here is a cool link for all girls who after reading the stripper entries are set on becoming one:
http://www.geocities.com/alysabethc/names.html
it’s Alysabeth’s Big List of Stripper Names on feministstripper.com..enjoy
Dana, well at least you have a fallback career if your current one ever goes sour!
KG okay okay, no more talk of strippers, at least for the rest of this month.
Lucy, that is a weird difference, then the male ones expect to get groped and fondled. Ew.
J, it’s hilarious how they go nuts, but as long as they’re having fun and no one gets hurt… ?
Sharron, are you telling me Geeky Dragon Girl isn’t a sexy stripper name??
Ever notice how most of the girls that go to strip clubs in groups for special occasions, like bachorlette parties, or milestone birthdays, because they think “Oh, wouldn’t it be funny”. Guys, on the otherhand, rarely go in groups, it’s usually one or maybe two guys together, a lot of them go frequently, but rarely because it’s a “special” occasion. It’s serious business when they go.
