I really cant stand the beach, but I adore the ocean. Sitting out on a pier just before a storm. It doesnt get any better than that. Just hearing the waves crashing against the shore and listening to the birds. Man I need to make a trip to the shore. I dont live anywhere near it. sad

I know! You described it perfectly! I think it was named after whoever discovered it, but sheesh.

I’ve always wanted to live on the ocean. Or any body of water for that matter.

When I was little I always wanted to live on the beach too. Then I see all the storms that happen all the time and the waves that crash so far up, often into beach houses. The salty air also does a number on paintjobs and metal. So no, I wouldn’t want to live on the beach after all. But a lake, now that would be heavenly.

I love the beach, ocean or lake. I love the smell of ocean/lake air, the sound of the waves and the sea gulls, sand between my toes, watching sail boats, walking out on the break wall, and skipping rocks. I could totally live by the water. Now swimming in it, no freaking way, there are fish in there.

I’m with ya there Zoe. I love being near, on or around water, but hate actually being IN the water. I don’t even like getting my hands wet if I can help it. If there are no gloves, I won’t do the dishes.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 04.26.2006 | 2:37 PM

Oh I’d rather be at the beach right now. Here in Brighton we have a lot of pubs right on the seafront. Plus it’s a peble beach. No sand!

I love the ocean. The Oregon Beach is it’s own entity. California beaches are pretty and sunny, but the Oregon coastline is just gorgeous.

I love it there, even in the windy sandstorm.

(awww. Your word verification called me “Muffin”. Right back atcha, cupcake!)

I like the beach, and swimming in it too. I totally hate the wad of sand that form on my the crotch part of my bathing suit. I hate that!!

I love the beach and the smell of the ocean is one of my favorite smells.
I swear, when I retire I am retiring to a beach somewhere....

I don’t live near an ocean (and have not been to either coast, yet) but I do live near one of the great lakes-and whilst I enjoy the looks and sounds-no freakin way will I ever set toes in there again. Fish and squirmy plant life are the least of my worries.

Deborah | 04.27.2006 | 10:44 AM

"Squirmy plant life” LOL! Good description!

Geeky Dragon Girl | 04.27.2006 | 12:45 PM

I have that love the ocean not the beach thing in my 100 things.

and for the same reasons. that and with a complexion like mine, there is no fucking way I’m going anywhere near full sun.

I am with you on the whole sand/salt water thing. You should see me on the beach in PTown - i have to have my ‘sand-free’ blanket under my extra large beach umbrella, with beach chair sporting drink holder with side table. i may as well be in my living room.

weese | 04.27.2006 | 2:08 PM

Miss Ann, people who sun themselves on purpose are just plain silly.

Weese, LOL! Did you have the TV there with you too? Yeah, I like to take all the conveniences of home with me too. I may as well stay home.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 04.27.2006 | 2:18 PM

I heart you!

Seriously, I love the ocean and going out on boats and stuff, but I can’t stand the beach. Coming from Hawaii, I get strange looks when I tell people that.

I mean, just because I was trapped on an Island for 20-someodd years, doesn’t mean I have to like the beach. In fact, being stranded there for most my life should give me a very valid reason for hating the beach.

*k. getting off my soapbox now* wink
