That’s why I refuse to eat meat loaf unless my Granny makes it.
I definitely learned my lesson!
The only two people who make good meatloaf is my mom, and my husband’s nephew. They are both completely different from each other,...but both so yummy!
Do either of them put a whole egg in there? My mom does. I always thought it was kinda weird, but kinda good.
Meatloaf falls under my “processed” foods so I tend to shy away from it. (Like pimento loaf. WTH?!) Also, the fact that it’s usually grey in color freaks me out.
Marie Calendar’s makes this yummy chicken/broccoli/rice/cheese concoction that is Nummmmmmmmmmy!!!
I’m over via Long Slow Beautiful Dance for click and comment day.
I work with all guys and about every other month they have a meatloaf pot-luck. A couple bring theirs in and the rest bring in the stuff to make sandwiches. Can you imagine eating a coworker’s meatloaf? Crazy!!!
Laci sent me over, GDG. It’s been quite a while since I last visited you.
Meatloaf is an interesting dish. My knee-jerk reaction is that I don’t like it, yet I’ve had some GREAT meatloaf over the years. It’s a dish that can be really bad, to so-so, to great. As a result, it’s not something I’d tend to order in a restaurant since you just don’t know what you’re going to get.
Come to chicago.. I’ll make you some good meatloaf!
My word verification is TREEHUGGER?
SINCE WHEN!?
I can’t eat meatloaf...bad memories. My foster mom made it and made huge batches we’d be fed for days on end. And there was no leaving the table with food on your plate. You sat there till bedtime and if you hadn’t finished you’d get the same exact plate for breakfast.
Hey I came to stalk your blogroll since mine has disappeared but your’s is gone too.
Dang!!!
Visiting from Laci’s site.
I’ve never been a huge fan of meatloaf but I’d also have to say that my moms was the best that I’ve had. That restaurants one you had does sound strange.
oh my verification word is wicked.
I dont like meatloaf never have...my sister is the only one that makes it. But I never have even tried it. It just doesnt look appetizing to me. I have no inclinations on learning how to make it either...sorry dragon!
they have marie callenders resturants????????? where???? get me to one fast!!! I want a pot pie!
They’re in California, Bitchet. They’re nummy...mmmmm....
That’s the one thing about Cali...restaurants. I miss a LOT of them.
GDG yes, my mom put egg and some breadcrumbs in with her meatloaf and stopped it with tomato sauce. S’ nephew just uses plain ground beef w/ spices and tops it with ketchup. I’m not a fan of the ketchup, but it’s still good.
The egg is supposed to make it moist and the crackers make soak that up for flavor. My mother did the same.
I’ve had ketchup or tomato sauce but also a bbq one once. I think I favor the tomato sauce much better.
OMG my verification word has me all excited.
**spank** I’m coming back for more!!!
It could be worse… Meatloaf made from Spam!
I once ordered meatloaf (and mashed potatoes) at a restaurant that i believe was in Universal Studios. We took the kids a couple times down to florida..this could have been 10 years ago. Anyway - at this restaruant called Mom’s I think. All the waitresses treat you like you are a kid - telling you to keep your elbows off the table, wash your hands etc. The retro decorating was stellar. For some reason I thought to order the meatloaf. And .. it was suprsingly good - suprisingly mom-ish.
My mother was a terrible cook...but it was hard to beat my grandmother’s cooking.
Oh meatloaf made from spam sounds really gross! YUCK
my word is smurf...and I’m wearing all blue today...co -inky-dink or what?
Meatloaf? Blech. When I still ate meat, that was my least favorite thing my mother made but, then again, she’s a horrible cook.
Spam meatloaf… hmm, sounds… salty. I actually like Spam, but a whole loaf of it would probably make me thirsty all day.
I always think restaurant meatloaf looks like Alpo dog food…
Everything tastes better when Mom makes it.
