I usually hang onto what I have because I hate to spend money too, but damn it if I wouldn’t like to have it!
I’m the same way. If it ain’t broke, why fix it?
I’m the same with my site graphics, what I choose when I eat out...last 2 times, I chose something different because the Mr. picked on me...both times it sucked ass.
I will use Win2k (when I’m not using Linux) forever because it works.
I don’t think it’s stingy or resistent, it’s practical common sense.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
yup, count me in too. i had to change in my last cell phone when i upgraded...they made me. but it was just fine for me. no color screen - and all it did was make phone calls.
the only thing i am happy we upgraded is the TV.
I can’t stand the crap on network television - but i am totally addicted to the HD picture now.
Weese, someone was telling me that the picture is so clear on the HD that you can even see the stage makeup on the actors. I don’t know if I’d want to see that.
Miss Ann, hmm, I like that story. I think I’ll stick to that too. It’s common sense y’all!
F2B, true, if I had the wealth I just might be having more new gadgets.
Zoe, that is pretty smart to wait until the technology has proven itself. I heard Motorola’s Razr phones have proven themselves to be quite unreliable.
I feel ya on this one. I’m a creature of habit. I’ve had my cell phone for 2 years, my computer for 5. My current gadget actually has to stop working totally and be unfixable before I will ever upgrade.
Add me to the stingy / cheap pile as well.
I only upgraded my phone, because with my two year renewal, I was able to get a Razr for $30.00, and my old phone was unable to get a signal anywhere.
So, for me the upgrade was out of necessity as well as a bargain!
I upgraded my cell phone because I had to. My last one broke in half and I went a month without one before my husband bought me a razr for Christmas.
I’m a creature of habit. Change freaks me out - in a big way.
I’m right there with ya. My cell is ancient. My computer even older. I don’t care. They both work and that is fine with me.
Add to that the fact that change isn’t easy for me. I don’t like it. I am a creature of habit and comfort. I drink the same drink, eat the same food, wear the same jeans, etc. All because change is not my friend.
I’m like you, I don’t exchange things until I absolutely have to. My computer is 6+ years old, my cell phone is relatively new, but only because the last one couldn’t hold battery power for more than 5 minutes of conversation… it was 4 years at the time.
We had a guy in my class at high school who was known for changing cells as often as the rest of us changed underwear… he got to be a bit of a joke, so perhaps that’s what influenced me
Generally, items must be broken before I’ll think about replacing. My hand-me-down cell broke almost a year ago and I haven’t replaced it, yet. In addition to being frugal, I just flat out despise shopping. The internet makes it easier as you don’t have to deal with sales pitches, but some stuff you just want to see..before you buy. I am also solidly in the ‘if it ain’t broke..’ camp.
Wow I am in such great company! I used to have friends much higher up on the geek scale than me who would upgrade their computers every year. Then again they don’t have much else to spend their dough on, heh.
I don’t give a crap about the computer. As long as it works, whatever. I didn’t even have a cell phone until about a month ago and I’ve used it maybe twice. So, I guess I don’t update things often. I don’t have a car stereo, an i-pod, or anything. My digital camera is old as the hills. I’m not a technie person.
I want a cell phone that’s just a phone. Not a camera, not an mp3 player, not a dayplanner or a game platform.
Why is my capcha calling me “snookums?”
I tend to like to buy my girlfriend a new vibrator every few months. Does that count?
I usually can not keep my cell phone in working order for more than a year, so I do upgrade every year or so.
it true. the picture is that good.
i have noticed that the actors look older and don’t have as good skin as i thought they did.
but really ...i just love it.
I don’t upgrade until whatever it is breaks and I have no choice. The TV in my bedroom - early 80’s model. I am on my second computer, which is now 3 years old...replacing one I bought at the beginning of time.
“use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without”
My grandfather used to drum that into our heads.
I suddenly realised the other day how much I love gadgets, but even so, the computer, TV and stereo are all 5 years old. Infact the stereo in the bedroom is one I’ve had since I was 14 lmao!
I have upgraded my phone a few times, but I seem to have bad luck with phones. 2 drowned (I then learnt not to rest them on the soap dish whilst washing my hands), 1 gave up the ghost having been dropped too many times and after 2 years my current one now has all kinds of things going wrong with it. I’m quite looking forward to upgrading again though, just got some saving to do first!
Oh if I were rich, I’d be replacing and buying new gadgets like crazy...but for me, I usually replace them when they blow up..haha!
As much as I am a gadget geek I don’t upgrade unless something no longer works, or something that really has improved functionality and would be of great benifit to upgrade for. I also don’t run out and buy the newest thing to come along, I like to wait a year or two until the product has had some time in the market and has had improvements made to it. I could really go on about this topic, but it would be long and boring.
So, in my opinion you’re just smart and not a tightwad.
Hey, who are you calling a dimwit?
