I have to laugh because I think I’m becoming one of them! You should see the lengths I go through just to wash my hands in a public restroom.  You’d pass out from laughing so hard.

I have contemplated disposable gloves.  I think I have issues LOL

“whiney” is my word verification...suits me to a T today…

I do see some people washing up at the restroom, and you’d think they were scrubbing in for surgery, hehe.

I’m a little like that, but not in an excessive way.  I don’t mind a little dirt, although using any public bathroom requires hot water, soap, and a way to open the door without using my newly cleaned hands.

I used to go to my company’s gym and it was required to wipe down the equipment with this spay bottle they keep in there.  Maybe the manager of the gym was a germaphobe…

I can also understand the need some might have to disinfect gym equipment. All those sweaty people, bleah. I’m glad I don’t care much about germs.

Hi. My name is Heather and I’m terrified of germs.

I can not leave home without my Purell hand sanitizer. And I use it many many times throughout the day. Yes, and I use Clorox wipes on everything. But, I do not wipe down the gym equipment before I use it like that. I clean it after I’m done. And lucky for me, in every room in the gym they have a Purell disposer. I bet they have to buy it more often now that I go there.

I was hoping you’d chime in with your perspective. So basically this lady I saw was a complete freak.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 05.17.2007 | 1:32 PM

My fiance thinks I’m not paranoid enough...I’m just paranoid about different things than germs.

i think we are a little over the top on the whole germ control issue.
they make us stronger.
buck up.

one time at the gym I watched a guy wipe down the equiptment, put on rubber gloves (hospital not housecleaning yellow) and proceed to work out.... crazy

Christie | 05.20.2007 | 3:53 AM

Ewww I wouldn’t be able to stand having all that sweat just sitting in those gloves, soaking. Bleah.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 05.21.2007 | 6:20 AM

What’s funny is in Microbiology, we tested a lot of antibacterial and antimicrobial things. The least effective was the hand sanitizer...and alcohol, oddly enough.

Yet I still use it. :D I figure it’s better than nothing. lol. I have a thing about gas pumps...but that’s about as far as my purell usage goes. I just wash my hands when I come home from shopping, stuff like that.

That lady was not a true Germ-o-phobe. I would never use public equipment in a public place. And the dripping sweat and the panting and wetness in the air, EWWWW.

I freak out over having to grab a public door handle, hopefully it’s cold and I can use my jacket sleeve. Pen? I have my OWN. Grocery carts? Ewww, I hate when I have to buy so much stuff I have to grab one. I have a hard time sitting in chairs, sometimes. I inspect them closely before sitting down.

annie | 05.21.2007 | 9:56 AM

Uhm.  Major germaphobe here!  I not only have those little bottles of hand gel (I use the B&B Works ones though) but I also have a mini-bottle of Clorox Anywhere spray.  I wear a mask to the doctor’s office.  (BECAUSE HELLO?  SICK PEOPLE ARE THERE!) And like Annie, there is NO WAY I am sitting on a dirty chair or touching a door handle.  Oh and Annie, they have these little covers for the front of shopping carts.  They’re supposed to be for babies, but I use one to put over the handlebars and to set my purse in it.

I tend to think more like weese in that germs make us stronger. I might have to make another post about this subject because germaphobes are fascinating to me.
