I saw an interview with the author or Eragon on TV - He was a home-schooled teenager when he wrote the book - if my memory serves me correctly. I usually don’t like those kind of movies, but I would watch that one.

My memory did serve me correctly. I did a little search and came up with this from Wikipedia

Christopher Pugliese was home schooled in Paradise Valley, Montana, and graduated from high school at the age of fifteen. He and his parents felt he should wait before attending college so he began writing Eragon. His parents’ publishing company, Paolini International, LLC, published his book when he was nineteen. The book was then discovered by Alfred A. Knopf and was republished under Knopf in 2002. With Knopf as the publisher, Eragon became a success and a New York Times Bestseller.

Amazing

That is pretty amazing. I like to write, but don’t have the follow-through required to finish anything book-length. I get bored and want to go start something else.

I read the book, I haven’t seen the movie yet.  I’m a little leery of it, because I’m not a fan of how they animated Saphira.  Dragons are great lizards, gosh darn it, not glorified birds.  I’ll probably watch it eventually, maybe after I re-read the book to refresh my memory.  I still have to read the second book too.  Too much to do! smile

Ohh I am so sick of hearing “ohh the book is so much better” NO SHIT dumb ass is what I feel like saying sometimes

Heather B | 03.21.2007 | 8:25 AM

HeatherB, I know! Right? I hear it soooo often, and I’m sitting here thinking, the only movie that could possibly outdo a book might be one based off a young children’s book.

Asara, actually birds are descended from dinosaurs, so it’s not far-fetched that a dragon might fly like a bird.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 03.21.2007 | 1:55 PM

That’s true.. it’s more the feathered wings that bother me more than anything else smile

Asara | 03.22.2007 | 8:31 AM

They weren’t really feathers though—they didn’t look fluffy at all. They were more like scales.  Maybe feather-shaped scales. I didn’t think it looked bad. Perhaps they were aiming for a bit of bird-like qualities, graceful in flight.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 03.22.2007 | 8:36 AM

Oh, I wasn’t saying it looked bad, just not the way I like to see dragons smile I’m not a fan of the traditional japanese style dragon either.. I’m picky.  I do plan on seeing the movie soon, so I’ll check into it more closely.  It’s so hard to judge movies on previews, and that’s all I’ve seen so far.  Oh, and thanks for the Gravatar tip, I hope this comment shows the one I just made!
