Hehe...I’m going to just pass judgment on your outfit in my head.
~ahem~ Anyway, yes...that’s a lovely feeling.
Yes, the outfit is hideous, I know. And yet my sweety continued to date me anyway. Amazing if you ask me. I was hopeless.
Yeah I was wondering about the outfit but wasn’t going to say anything.
I love standing on the back porch (or front the back is nicer) and take everything in. I need to stop and do that kind of thing more often, I am someone really in need of smelling the roses.
Yes yes, horrible shirt and even more horrible shorts, I know. My front porch outfit was nothing like that!
But it’s true, we all need to take time out and just absorb the pleasantness. No matter what you’re wearing.
I’m feeling the black joggers you got going with the white socks and shorts.
That is TOTAL hero material if you ask me.
Um, my captcha is ‘insult’
I’m sorry.
All of a sudden I’m having flashbacks to the movie Titanic and “I’m king of the world”.
oh....
and....
my word captcha thing is nutcase.
all is forgiven in the 80’s. it was an ugly era.
but now about these ‘slighly’ unwashed clothes - hmm, i cannot relax in such attire.
in order to completely relax - the house must be clean, i must be clean and my laundry fresh.
the all is right with the world.
Miss Ann, LOL! I’d forgotten about those. If that doesn’t shout “fashion-impaired geek” I don’t know what would.
Mike, you are a nutcase. But a loveable one.
Weese, it it wrong that I didn’t think the 80s were that ugly? Is it even more wrong that it was 1999 when that photo was taken?
You mean heroine, GDG. Heroine. And not the kind with balloon boobs that I see in my comics (yes, I’m a geek and collect Star Wars comics).
Actually I’ve never liked the word heroine. Sounds too much like the drug. Why do we need to be gender-specific anyway? I’ve always used hero as a gender-neutral way to refer to all do-gooders. I find being a slave to gender-specific words is so draining. Forget stewards and stewardesses, they’re flight attendants. No firemen or policemen here, just fire fighters and police officers. Neutrality is so much easier, don’t you think?
Yes, neutrality is a lot easier, but to me, “hero” still has such a male connotation. I’ve been working on (read: wanting to and thinking about but not actually doing anything) creating a comic book where the “hero” is female, but I have a hard time bringing myself to refer to a female, especially a comic book character, as a hero.
Although in my Star Wars RPG group (told you I’m a geek), even in the rulebook, everyone is referred to as “hero.” My word verification is “airhead.” Maybe it explains my POV.
Ooh an RPG group… I miss those. You’re not the only geek around here!
I do like your point of view and you’re right, there still is a very male connotation to “hero”. It’s up to us geek-heroes to bring it to the masses!
D&D became really popular when I was in fourth grade (’78, ‘79) and I wanted to play with my guy friends, but I couldn’t get the hang of the dice. Even now, with the “new” d20 system, I still have to add by counting on my fingers! I’m just not quick when it comes to math.
It just adds to the suspense of things. “Hey I just did… *punching numbers into calculator* 65 points of damage! Wow!”
I’d never played a pen and paper RPG befoe, and my husband found this group on craigslist. At least they don’t ntake it too seriously, so it’s fun. I’m pretty sure the GM has a calculator, too! LOL!
It’s soooo much better when they don’t take it seriously. I’ve seen groups that do, and they’re kind of, well, scary. In college my group of RPGing friends were completely nuts. I loved it. We dabbled a little in D&D, but mostly we played one called Cyberpunk.
OK, here’s more of my geekiness--and a testament as to how laidback this group is. I collect the SW comics and novels (including some of the Scholastic ones for kids because I LOVE back stories--Obi-Wan, Boba Fett), but I also collect SW LEGO sets. And I’ll tell you--using them on the battle mat is a whole lot more fun than those pewter miniatures!
I love that feeling! I don’t get it often, but I cherish it when I do.
