I didn’t see anything like that within the URLs when emailed a copy of the comment. Oh well, not allowing links altogether, while slightly lobotomizing my comment page, should deter those spamholes from wanting to litter here.
You’re right, yours don’t do that. I think that’s a default for Wordpress. If you view the source on my comments, you’ll see that every URL in the comments has ‘rel="external nofollow” ‘ at the end of it.
My URL right here for avitable.com as a commenter doesn’t have that - you might want to add that if possible.

Expression Engine doesn’t have anything like that in the free installation, but I did find a plugin I should be able to install to enable it. For anyone looking for the same solution, I found here: http://expressionengine.com/wiki/Nofollow/
That plug-in sounds like it’s exactly what you’re looking for. Spammers will be more likely to leave you alone if it won’t help them at all.
And then I can un-lobotomize my comments! That will make me happy.
Then I can go craaaaaazy with bold and underlines!
Yeah cuz we can’t get any of our points across without BOLDING and _underlining_ everything… and lots of exclamation points!!!! Actually I’m doing a pretty good job without HTML. I probably won’t get around to installing the plugin since I can’t make any uploads from work. Crazy bastards here have blocked that ability for non-company-related sites. They expect us to work, sheesh. 
That’s the nice thing about being the boss here!

Usually, comments have a “no referrer” tag to any URLs, which means that Google won’t count them anyway.
I’ve noticed that you’ve been getting some crazy spam recently, too.
