It’s a conspiracy....my thought is that they had available funds but decided to invest them in the campaign to keep republicans in office last month. And we all know how well that worked out.

When I worked in childcare our Christmas party sucked too.

Divalicious | 12.13.2006 | 11:32 AM

If it makes you feel any better, my husband’s company CHARGED their employees to attend - actually made them buy tickets!!! - and then, just for extra awesomeness, told everyone they were only allowed to buy one ticket each, no handing one to a friend if you didn’t plan to attend, because it was JUST a company party - no ‘other halves’ allowed. LAME!!!!

Mrs. S | 12.13.2006 | 2:03 PM

HA! I’ll bet loads of people attended that one.

So where exactly are these super-fun company parties I always see on TV? They always look so festive.

Hey GDG! I’m back online at last! Hope you been doing ok.

Sorry to hear your xmas party sucked! We missed Mr EC’s work xmas do because of the move (but I doubt it was super fun like the ones on TV). smile

Oh my how lame...! Even our company is taking us to a restaurant and celebrating Christmas. And in January since the CEO of my company is Jewish and will have nothing to do with Christmas...we have our “company party in JANUARY” I guess it’s a lot better than NO PARTY or a crapy wanna shut your mouth party...your company SUCKS!!!

Mar | 12.14.2006 | 2:58 PM

LOL Damn. That is a piss poor party. I was the party planner at my previous place of employment. Well, it was our department party, at the all company party, they rented out a big to-do museum and had a sit-down dinner and gifts and raffles and what-not. Very nice. Anyway, our department party was always a hit because I made sure of it even with a $0 budget. We had a potluck and I made a turkey. The boss bought a honey-baked ham and everyone else brought side dishes and desserts. Of course, me, being the Christmas Queen, had plenty of ideas and decorations. We had a “white elephant” gift exchange. Yep, I did, indeed, rock at it even with no money.

EC, welcome back!

Mar, I agree, even if your holiday party isn’t till January, at least it’s usually very nice.

KG, our department party was great fun. We did pretty much what you did. Those white elephant exchanges are awesome and make for much fun drama. So we rocked it out with no budget too. However I just expect more from the company, y’know?

Geeky Dragon Girl | 12.15.2006 | 6:29 AM

It was still better than my husbands company party!

annie | 12.15.2006 | 12:59 PM

I figure if you can’t do it without being completely lame, then don’t do anything at all. Some people might say, “Well it’s better than nothing.” I disagree. Sometimes, doing nothing is better than utter crap. At least your employees won’t be embarrassed to be associated with you.
