I update my blogroll occasionally...but it has more to do with how often a person posts than anything else.

and hey....

Some of us single unattached people are pretty happy overall. Enjoy your breakfast!!

I agree with what you’re saying.  Most of the blogs I read are by coupled lesbian or bi women, there are a few exceptions.  But that is also what I was looking for.  BP and I don’t have any gay friends who live any where even close, so I was looking for something particular when I started blogging.  I think a lot of the blogs I read where also started around the same time as mine so now everyone is either into their style, be it good or bad, so I’m adding new ones and not reading so frequently some of the old ones.

What I do find interesting is who reads who of the blogs I read.  I think it’s funny that some blogs are so popular and others are not.  I’ve found some really good blogs that it appears that not many people read and others that suck but have high readership.  I don’t get it sometimes. But mostly I’m astonished that more than 3 people read my blog, seriously, I never expected it.

Mike, I actually thought of you after my post and I thought, “Mike is a happy guy and he’s single. So your theory is crap. Oh well. Time for oatmeal!”

Zoe, if it weren’t for blogrolls I would never find anything. And I agree, a lot of decent blogs have very low readership. My guess is because they don’t comment much on other blogs. If people don’t know about you, they can’t find you.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 05.04.2006 | 9:15 AM

I <i>want</i> to update my blogroll but I feel a bit weird about it. I don’t want anyone to think I don’t like their blog anymore. It just might be that their blog isn’t the kind of blog that I frequent anymore.  I should just do it and they can deal.

I’ve only been blogging since October and I feel quite at home with it, too. It took a while for me, though.  In the beginning, I had quite a different focus and it really wasn’t a personal blog.  Now that I’ve got two blogs, I can put all the other stuff there and become the narcissist I really am and blather on about myself on my regular blog.

My blog taste I think depends on the mood of the blog.  I hate downers.  I understand people have bad days.  Hell I have man bad days and some times I even feel bad about posting about them because I know I wouldn’t wouldn’t hear some one whine.  If some one is going through a hard time in alife thats different.

I like to read about peoples everyday stuff.  See how they are very much like myself and make me feel abit more sane?

I don’t like reading about some ones 5 th date with a different guy that week or what they are going to wear to a party.  I don’t like politics unless the person isn’t gonna get bent out of shape if you disagree.

I read people that can make me laugh or see abit of themselve that makes then tick.

Religious blogs I love and hate.  Long story.

Ok I am babbling.

I’ve been blogging for almost a year and a half. My tastes have definitely changed since I started. I used to almost exclusively favor blogs that made me laugh. Entertaining reading is still important, but now I prefer blogs that are “more real.” I like to read about the writers and get a sense of their lives.

My blogroll has been updated quite a bit. I’ve probably de-linked fifty people when I drifted away from them.

Joefish | 05.04.2006 | 10:08 AM

T, where else but a blog can we feel free to talk exclusively about ourselves constantly? Narcissism at its best! Okay, there’s also the psychologist’s office, but that ain’t free. And you only get to have one commenter.

Jaws, I can’t stand political or religious blogs either. Even if their views agree with mine, they’re just not topics I care to read about every day.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 05.04.2006 | 10:11 AM

Having entered the blog world only two short months ago, my tastes haven’t really had time to evolve, but I find that when I look at my blogroll, or even reflect on the ones that I’ve enjoyed but don’t have listed on my site, that their lives aren’t necessarily like mine. I think it has more to do with their style of writing or sense of humour. I personally enjoy writers with some semblance of intelligence who are witty and can string together a coherent sentance. It’s why I come here after all!

Wild Blue | 05.04.2006 | 10:12 AM

Joe, I can see how tastes can evolve like yours did. After awhile the funny blogs might all seem to be the same. It’s the “real life” ones, where you get a sense of their personality, that differentiate themselves.

WildBlue, I quite agree! Writing style makes a HUGE difference. I could be super-close friends with someone in real life, but it doesn’t automatically mean I’ll love their blog. They could write like imbiciles or be extremely boring.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 05.04.2006 | 10:15 AM

I think writing style makes a huge difference too. I don’t always like my own style of writing though. Sometimes I look back at a post and think someone else could have said the same thing so much better. But I’ll get there in the end and watching my writing style develop is a part of the whole blog thing.

I do adjust my blogroll occasionally, as you say taste change sometimes, but like T I feel bad whenever I take one off!

Sarah | 05.04.2006 | 10:39 AM

I haven’t started a blog, yet. Have thought about it, oh for a few months, now. One of the issues holding me back is form/content. Who am I and what kind of blog do I want? Well, I enjoy a WIDE spectrum of blogs in terms of writing style, life style and age brackets. A common threads of those that I visit daily (of which this is certainly one) is frequency of posts, content-in that there is a variety of subject matter and tone and of course writing. I enjoy reading people who seem to enjoy writing & put thought and effort into what they are saying and how it’s said.

I visit other blogs on the recommendation of bloggers I like-some become frequent visits-some don’t.

I am a single mother of two adult children living at home and I am happy 97% of the time. The other 3% I’m too tired to think about anything but sleep.

I’m stopping now.

<i>"Okay, there’s also the psychologist’s office, but that ain’t free. And you only get to have one commenter."</i>

ha! You crack me up. smile

Joefish | 05.04.2006 | 1:18 PM

I have very few people on my links, only because I refuse to be one of those people feels obligated to link up everyone that visits. I appreciate my traffic, to be sure, but I feel like the people that contribute, comment and share on a regular basis are the peeps I put on the links. My tastes are pretty diverse, because the world is constantly changing.

2 things grab me and keep me.  humour and being a real human person without airs.  You fit.

um, my captcha is ‘sextoys.’

you lesbians are all alike...always trying to recruit ~ducks and runs~

Miss Ann Thrope | 05.04.2006 | 6:25 PM

Oh hell, my tastes in blog reading changes almost daily. Every day I’ll read my favourites...but depending on my mood I’ll search out funny blogs, or bitchy and sarcastic blogs...not sure if my tastes would change depending on my life changes. Interesting thought though.
