I have a female that does the same darn thing! If you find a cure for the barking or the marking, please post it! I am likely to be completely freakin nuts by then, but ya never know.

My friend puts a belly band on her un-neutered show dog boys to keep them from marking up her place.  She made them herself out of fabric and velcro and she uses regular maxi-pads to absorb the liquid.  LOL

I don’t have an answer, but hoo-wee, I’d be all kinds of ticked off over it.

Otter, how odd that a female dog is doing that. My sister had one that would mark trees during walks outside, but not inside.

KG, that’s a thought. It’s like a pee diaper for males.  That would be fairly easy to make.  I wonder if he would keep it on?

Geeky Dragon Girl | 08.15.2007 | 10:47 AM

My friend’s dogs leave it alone.  At first they were all, “WTF is this thing?” and sort of pulled at it...but now it is old hat for them.  smile

I found several places that sell these things. Here are two. good luck!

TinkleTrousers, ha! I wonder what other names they came up with during the brainstorming process. I took a look and, goodness, those things look like doggy swimwear! More complicated than the harness I walk them in. I think I’ll make my own.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 08.16.2007 | 5:21 AM

Oh those TinkleTrousers do look complicated. LOL

If you make them yourself, then you can choose less stupid-looking fabric that way.

My friend’s dogs’ bellybands look like a belt held on by pieces of velcro with the maxi-pad stuck inside.  heh.

Kentucky Girl | 08.16.2007 | 5:44 AM

If I just duct tape the maxi pad onto the little monster, do you think he would mind? LOL

Geeky Dragon Girl | 08.16.2007 | 5:47 AM

I think it would depend on the color of the duct tape.  You know, he wouldn’t want it to clash with his fur and stuff.  But the white maxi-pad matches everything so you’d be good there!

what kind of a dog is he?
can’t tell from the pic.

weese | 08.16.2007 | 6:46 AM

He’s a chihuahua, likely mixed with something else. He’s mellower than our other chihuahua. You can see more photos of them by clicking on the “Warm-n-Fuzzy Pets” category in my sidebar.

That is one thing I do not miss about having pets… My dog I had that I had to give to a friend of the family would bark at every dog that walked by.  She would run outside and just go insane, we think it was a territorial thing.  If we took her to the beach she would never bark just run around and play with all the other dogs.

Heather B | 08.16.2007 | 10:14 AM

That does sound like a territorial thing. Mine are just insane, they act like they want to start a fight with every dog they meet, inside or outside the house.  I think it’s due to poor socializing when they were puppies. We didn’t know any better and they grew up pretty much isolated from other dogs.

Geeky Dragon Girl | 08.16.2007 | 10:19 AM

Oh, I’d be soooo mad.

He *is* cute. smile

Christie | 08.17.2007 | 2:31 AM

Our dog barks at anyone who comes to the door, and it’s frustrating.  I hate to do it, but I think I’m going to have to train her with the bark shock collar.

Avitable | 08.17.2007 | 5:07 AM

Oh Geeky you need the Dog Whisperer!
He is the greatest!!!

I’ve seen him on TV helping people who have problems like these with their pets.  He can give you methods that work, his name is Cesar Millan.  You can google him and get to his website and I found him on Netflicks.

Weekends Off | 08.17.2007 | 8:08 AM

My dog goes nuts when he sees another dog outside.  It’s like he doesn’t see or hear anything else… Almost like when a person loses their temper.  I get so mad sometimes… But it is cute when you yell at them and they feel bad.  smile

Okay, that last pic is just way too cute.  Looking all guilty and hiding out.  LOL!
I’ve never had a dog that did that, but then again, I’ve never had a male dog.  I had a cat that used to do that though, and OMG the smell!!!  Blech.
