BEEP!

I mentioned yesterday that the hospital I was visiting made us walk though a metal detector. You know, in case I went there to put a few patients out of their misery with my nail clipper. I dug my keys out of my pocket and put them in the tray before walking through. BEEP! Whoops, should I tell them about that metal plate in my head?

“Sunglasses,” says the guard in a really bored voice. Doubtful, I take them off and walk through again. All is well. My sunglasses set off the metal detector? But they’re cheap! I’m not kidding, I bought them at a freaking car wash, how could these brittle plastic things set off the metal detector? I suppose there are tiny metal screws in there. Damn, is it that sensitive? Then how come the metal zipper, the metal button and the various rivets in my jeans didn’t do anything? I’m perplexed.

Lucky for me they didn’t search my pockets for the plastic spork I had concealed in case I ran into any creepy doctors that looked at me funny. Don’t mess with me, I’m a woman on the edge!
