Adventures in Housework
The weekend is the time for relaxing… and for cleaning up all the filth that has gathered during the work week. I dutifully dragged the vacuum cleaner out and started pushing it around. I got to the room we usually hang out in and was nearly finished when I encountered some knitting that my sweety had started. The needles and yarn-work were on the floor in the corner. The knitting needles were huge, so I figured I could use the vacuum cleaner to just nudge them out of the way.
So I did. *nudge* *nudge* *shwiiiip-THWACK!-whirrrrrr* Oh shit!
I’d sucked her knit-work right off the floor, the knitting needle clattered against the vacuum, and the yarn got wound into the spinning brush. Do my sound effects do the scene justice? It’s what I heard before making a mad dash for the off-switch. I flipped the thing over to survey the damage, and here’s what I saw…

What had I done? Look at my little boy staring up at me, an expression that says something like, “Ooooh look what you diiiiid! You are in so much trouble! I wouldn’t wanna be in your shoes!” How much time did she spend on it? Maybe I could salvage it. I started rotating the brush and pulling out yarn as carfully as I could, however it soon became apparent that it wasn’t going to come out without a fight. It didn’t just get spun on there, it was totally tangled. After 10 minutes of yanking and swearing, here’s what I ended up with…

She forgave me. What a sweetheart.
