A little piece of pop culture I finally figured out

Lately I’ve been seeing a lot of references online to “K-Fed”. This, of course, meant absolutely nothing to me. It just sounds like a radio station to me. I do not keep up with current events. I don’t stay informed about Britney’s home life because it’s her frickin life, not mine. I could care less.

Needless to say it took me a loooong time to figure out what the heck “K-Fed” was referring to. Those of you who are not yet “in the know”, allow me to spell it out. (If you’re anything like me you usually won’t admit to having no clue what a word means.) Thanks to J.Lo, people now have a fondness for shortening celebrity names. Over the course of an entire month I slowly pieced together the following facts that finally made these references make sense.

K-Fed refers to Kevin Federline, who is Britney’s husband, and who apparently made a really bizarrely bad song that is sweeping the nation. I don’t know these things, I’m just guessing. I personally never heard the song until someone posted about it and offered a link to download the thing. I, being the curious little geek that I am, decided to give it a listen.

Somehow I accidently let it play seven times in a row. I still don’t know what the song is about, but this isn’t the kind of song that I pay much attention to, especially with a title like Popozao. For me it’s more of a fun song that is much better if you don’t listen to what he’s actually saying, much like “Ice Ice Baby”.

Maybe it’s just me. I’ve never been cool, so perhaps me kinda liking this song just proves it. It’s just such a happy song! Strange, yes, but the hooting gibberish at the beginning always makes me smile. I can see myself doing the same thing in my car. “Oy! Oooyyy!”

Perhaps the song has rotted my brain.
