A couple of updates

I’ve got a bit of good news to share! It’s about my squatter situation… there’s finally been some movement on that front. Here’s a Random Pointless Recording to tell you about it (you can either download it by clicking on the link or listen by using the media player, I’m all about choices):

Also, an update on the tie situation… look!

The tie did not mysteriously disappear, but part of it seems to have. As you well know, I cannot let this by without speculating on what happened…

  • Someone was swinging on it and the thing couldn’t take his weight (which means hanging yourself with it would not work).
  • Someone was really curious about what it looked like inside a tie.
  • Stoopid maintenance people were told to take the tie down, but they couldn’t find their ladder and decided to yank on it until it came loose.
  • Dave‘s aliens really did come by to pick up a batch of humans, and the tie got caught in the tractor beam.

*Warning, geeky stuff ahead*
Barb had pointed out that the media player was playing my MP3 recording automatically. I hate hate HATE auoplaying audio and video. It’s wrong and intrusive and I’m sorry. I’m assuming it wasn’t in IE because it worked normally for me. I did some quick research and found out that the EMBED tag is not standard HTML at all. It’s some mutant tag that Netscape developed and IE uses (for some weird reason). The OBJECT tag is the correct standard to use, but IE doesn’t implement it correctly. For whoever is interested, I found this article that showed me one way to code the OBJECT tag so all browsers will use it correctly.

If the audio still starts automatically for you, please do let me know, and tell me which browser you are using. Thanks!
